Granite Falls Health CEO, Tom Kooiman, would like to answer some commonly asked questions regarding the acquisition of Carris Health Clinic – Granite Falls (formerly ACMC Clinic by Granite Falls Health.
1. Why is Granite Falls Health purchasing the Carris Health Clinic – Granite Falls?
On July 1, 2018 the Carris Health Clinic – Granite Falls will be sold to Granite Falls Health. Granite Falls Health is purchasing the Carris Health Clinic, because we believe we can best deliver / coordinate high quality health care services to our patients if we are working collaboratively. The physicians (Dr. Carter, Dr. Rillo, and Dr. Eakes) felt it was in the best interest of the patients, the community and Granite Falls Health if we were all working together, under one roof.
2. When will the change-over happen from the Carris Health Clinic to Granite Falls Health?
Effective July 1, 2018, the oversight, policy and daily operations of the clinic will become Granite Falls Health. All patient records are included in the purchase of the Carris Health Clinic – Granite Falls. If you do not want your records transferred to the Granite Falls Health Clinic please call ACMC at 320-231-5000.
3. What happens to the staff that currently work at the Carris Health Clinic – Granite Falls?
All staff, whose primary role was in Granite Falls, received bone fide offers from Granite Falls Health, to remain working in the clinic in Granite Falls. It was the decision of the staff whether or not to accept the offer. Granite Falls Health is pleased that almost all of the clinical staff accepted the positions offered to them by Granite Falls Health and will begin as a Granite Falls Health employee on July 1st.
4. Will I still be able to see my primary care provider?
Yes – you will be able to continue to see your primary care provider. If you had an appointment scheduled with Carris Health Clinic – Granite Falls following the July 1st transition, these appointments have transitioned to Granite Falls Health Clinic. You will not need to call or rebook these appointments. Granite Falls Health recommends arriving 15-20 minutes before your scheduled appointment to fill out paperwork and register as a new patient in the Granite Falls Health system if you have not been to our Granite Falls Health Clinic previously.
5. Where will the Granite Falls Health clinic be located?
Initially there will be two clinic spaces. Dr. Moe, Tammy Schmitz, CNP, Fred Altamirano, PA, Kate Scheffler, PA and Jane Van Sickle will continue to practice in their current space; we are calling this the Granite Falls Health West Clinic. Dr. Carter, Dr. Rillo, Dr. Eakes and Jim Nedrud, PA will continue to practice in their current space (the former ACMC clinic), we are calling this the Granite Falls Health East Clinic.
The goal of the providers and Granite Falls Health is to be “Under One Roof” working together. Granite Falls Health has a task force that is vetting out our options as it relates to spaces. The task force will determine what space(s) works best to be working collaboratively for the benefit of our patients. Once these options have been vetted out, a plan and timeline will be developed.
6. What happens to the space not occupied by the clinic(s)?
Preliminary discussions have been – moving the West Clinic into the East Clinic and moving our therapy departments into the West Clinic Space. This by no means has been finalized, as the task force has not completed the analysis.
7. How do we contact the clinic to schedule an appointment?

8. Will the Granite Falls Health Clinic continue to have a relationship with Carris Health/ACMC?
Granite Falls Health, Carris Health / CentraCare plan to continue to have a relationship after July 1st. The intent of the parties is for Carris Health / CentraCare Health to provided Cardiology, Podiatry, Dermatology and General Surgery to our Granite Falls Health Clinic.
9. What specialty/outreach services will be provided at the Granite Falls Health Clinic?
Avera Health will continue to provide Orthopedic Services, General Surgery, Podiatry, Ear Nose Throat, Endocrinology, and OB/GYN to our clinic. Our intent is to have Carris Health / CentraCare Health to provide Cardiology, Podiatry, Dermatology and General Surgery to our Granite Falls Health Clinic.
